Rancho Mission Viejo Named “2013 Developer of the Year”

The awards season is in full swing, and if you’re like most TV and movie buffs, you’re glued to your television, computer or tablet – popcorn in hand – to see who the next recipients will be. Starting with the Emmys and culminating with the Oscars in March, it’s a time when actors, directors and industry professionals are recognized for their ability to engage and entertain us. The same applies to the building industry. We, too, have a series of coveted awards that recognize community, architect and designer achievements, as well as the impact they’ve made on the industry to improve the quality of our homeowners’ lives.

This year it started with top honors from Builder and Developer magazine, and we’re proud to announce that Rancho Mission Viejo was recognized as the “2013 Developer of the Year.”

Rancho Mission Viejo has been highly regarded within the industry for its innovative approach to South Orange County living and for pioneering the concept of intergenerational living. The intergenerational Village of Sendero opened in Summer 2013 with thousands of homebuyers on the interest list and over 10,000 Grand Opening attendees. In just a short period of time, over 420 people have purchased the planned 940 homes at Rancho Mission Viejo, and almost half have already moved into Sendero.

“Builder and Developer has been published for 24 years, since 1990, and the winner was selected by readers, contributors, advertisers and previous honorees,” explained Nick Slevin, publisher and editor-in-chief of the publication. “Everyone was invited to nominate who they felt should be recognized as ‘Developer of the Year,’ and Rancho Mission Viejo won with the most votes.”

But this isn’t the only award The Ranch has received. In fact, Rancho Mission Viejo and our 9 Neighborhood builders may be well on the way to becoming the “Meryl Streeps” of the building industry…
