After One Year of Living in a Rancho Mission Viejo Gavilán Neighborhood, “It Just Keeps Getting More Perfect”
Rancho Mission Viejo (July 12, 2024) - When Lisa and Mike Nugent moved into their first home in Rancho Mission Viejo’s hillside Village of Esencia, it was pretty perfect. The couple bought a three-story, four-bedroom, four-bathroom home with a rooftop deck that was ideal for entertaining and enjoying the California sunsets.
“It was great, we loved it,” Lisa said, of the home they bought in 2018.
However, as the couple got a little older and with all of their kids grown up and out of the house, it was time to downsize.
In the search for their new home, there was one thing they knew they DIDN’T want – to leave The Ranch.
“We love living at The Ranch and we did not want to leave,” said Lisa.
So, when homes in brand new Gailván 55+ neighborhoods became available in the Village of Rienda, the couple jumped at the chance to purchase.
Gavilán is The Ranch’s brand for the unique 55+ lifestyle, that allows residents to stay connected to every generation while enjoying exclusive access to resort-style amenities, events, and activities designed for those who enjoy a vibrant lifestyle.
One year after moving in, their new house in Haven by Lennar is more than “pretty perfect”, according to Lisa. “Everything on The Ranch just feels right,” she said. “You have everything: trails for hiking, pickleball, and state-of-the-art pools. Plus, we also volunteer through the RMV Farm program, which is very special. There’s literally something for everyone. There’s nothing missing. It just keeps getting more perfect.”
With three farms on The Ranch, including one exclusively for Gavilán residents, Lisa and her husband enjoy gardening, harvesting, and getting their hands dirty year-round.
Lisa said her neighbors all share the same admiration for the thoughtful planning, layout, and design of The Ranch.
“While other master-planned communities seem to have simply been jammed into any available space with cookie-cutter architecture, The Ranch comes from an altogether different viewpoint, aesthetic and ethos. The Ranch doesn’t look like it was plucked from the sky,” Lisa said. “It’s very thoughtfully planned. With mature trees, beautiful landscaping and even beautiful sidewalks, we get to live somewhere very special.”
Perhaps one of the best aspects of the Gavilán lifestyle is the unique sense of community and bonding. While it isn’t quite the same as life in a neighborhood where families are at all stages of life and with children of all ages, it certainly isn’t any less lively.
“It’s quiet and peaceful but definitely not sleepy,” Lisa said. “We’ve hosted pasta nights and cocktail parties with neighbors. Any excuse for a party is a good one! We’re all about making friends, finding common interests and forming bonds among others from similar circumstances.”
