Rancho Mission Viejo 2024 Year in Review: A Year of Housing Growth, Added Infrastructure

The Rancho Mission Viejo community has experienced a year of growth and neighborhood success. From exponential housing market growth to resident events to infrastructure advances, community leaders look back positively on 2024.

Much progress has been made since the beginning of the year in January, when Rancho Mission Viejo started to open its brand-new community phase in their Rienda neighborhood. Seventy percent of the inventory has sold since then.

“On  a macro perspective with respect to sales and traffic, we grand opened ‘Phase 2B’ in January of 2024, and not even a full year later we are just about 70 percent sold through,” said Kris Maher, Senior Vice President of Community Development for Rancho Mission Viejo. “We are moving at a pretty amazing pace that’s been consistent for us throughout 2024, and we only have about 160 units left to go in ‘Phase 2B.’ In addition to that, we have sold through this year the previous phases, ‘Phase 1’ and ‘Phase 2A.’ We are averaging about 500 to 600 sales a year, and that is a pretty fantastic pace for us.”

With so many new residents and families entering the community, RMV’s expansion of its infrastructure reached new heights. In a previous partnership with the Orange County Transportation Authority, RMV’s Ranch Ride expanded its reach and drove close to 6,000 miles, taking residents all over Orange County.

“On the resident side, we have our wonderful ranch rides. Our 36-seater branded coach, which we have through an affiliation with OCTA, has picked up,” Maher said. “The residents are really starting to recognize the value of what this brings to them, and it’s virtually at no cost to them. To date in 2024, Ranch Ride has taken approximately over 3,000 cars off the road by people utilizing the service.”

Looking forward, the community is being formally recognized. As part of the Global Wellness Initiative, Rancho Mission Viejo will be featured as one of six communities that excel in empowering their community as a whole instead of just individuals.

“ Coming up, in the summer of 2025, the Global Wellness Institute is updating a report that they did in 2018 entitled ‘Build Well to Live Well,’ and it’s a research report that goes through different types of living experiences,” Maher said. “They will feature RMV as one of the five or six communities in the updated report. The Global Wellness Institute is a huge nonprofit whose mission is to empower wellness worldwide, so for Rancho Mission Viejo to be recognized is really, really significant.”

For RMV, looking into 2025, its vision includes more building and community events as it continues to grow.
