Esencia Named Best Community in the Country
Residents of the Village of Esencia at Rancho Mission Viejo proudly say there’s no better place to call home – and a highly respected real estate industry association agrees with them. The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) recently honored the Village of Esencia with a Gold Award as North America’s Best Master Planned Community of the Year.
Gold Awards are the top honors presented annually by the NAHB, and competition for the awards is intense. NAHB officials said they selected this year’s winners from more than 1,300 entries submitted from throughout North America.
“Being named Master Planned Community of the Year is a tremendous honor, especially from an admired national industry organization such as the NAHB,” said Nadine Corrigan, Vice President of Marketing for Rancho Mission Viejo, LLC. “What thrills us as much as the award itself, honestly, is the fact that the residents absolutely love the Village of Esencia, and are confident they’ve chosen America’s best community for their families.”
From its scenic South Orange County hilltop location, the Village of Esencia offers a full range of single-level and multi-story Napa-inspired homes ranging in price from the $500,000s to over $1 million. The beautiful homes were designed for a wide range of lifestyles, including couples, families and adventurous empty-nesters and, at the Gavilan neighborhoods, for residents age 55+.

Located in the acclaimed Capistrano Unified School District, the state-of-the-art new school at Esencia is a 14-acre campus designed with cutting-edge features including a modular Innovation Center to replace the traditional library, as well as technologically advanced classrooms that foster a more dynamic learning experience. Esencia School is the first school built on The Ranch and will ultimately serve students kindergarten to eighth grade.
At completion, the villages on Rancho Mission Viejo will occupy approximately 6,000 acres or 25% of the historic 23,000-acre Rancho Mission Viejo, Orange County’s last working ranch, which has been held in the O’Neill/Avery/Moiso family since 1882. About 17,000 acres, or 75% of The Ranch, will be preserved for ranching, farming and the phased formation of a large habitat conservation area known as The Reserve at Rancho Mission Viejo.
