Farm-to-Community
Agriculture is an integral part of Rancho Mission Viejo’s long and rich history. Today, Rancho Mission Viejo is a historic cattle ranch with grazing cattle and bountiful produce harvests. So it was only fitting to continue this time-honored tradition at Esencia and Sendero by integrating community farms within each village.
The concept of incorporating communal farming into urban life is affectionately known as an “agrihood.” It continues to grow in popularity, and it’s not hard to see why. Community farms create a sense of belonging to the environment, provide opportunities to learn about healthy eating and responsible farming, and bring the community closer together.
