Last month, we held a renter’s seminar at The Ranch where we discussed the pros of owning versus renting. Tons of insights were shared and we gathered some of the most helpful homebuying tips for you here.
TIP 1: Maintain a high credit score
Before you can move up and into your dream home you need to keep your credit score movin’ on up.
Make this a little easier on yourself by putting all your bills on auto pay to avoid late payments. Also, try to only use 1-10% of of your credit card limits.
TIP 2: Consider your total income
Did you know there are 3 types of income?
When starting the homebuying process, be sure to assess your active, passive, and portfolio income.
Active income is generated from trading time for money.
Passive income includes assets that you haven’t actively worked for.
And portfolio income comes from selling an investment at a higher price than you paid for it.
TIP 3: Know how much you’ll save in the long run
The best part of homebuying is that over time your monthly payments go down and the impact of your overall wealth goes up. We recommend comparing your monthly rent payment versus a proposed mortgage. The difference might just surprise you. Who doesn’t love spending less and getting more?
