Sendero In The News! OC Register Covers Rancho Mission Viejo

As the Village of Sendero Grand Opens this weekend, Jeff Collins of the OC Register sat down with Rancho Mission Viejo’s Senior Vice President Paul Johnson to discuss South Orange County’s newest community.

The OC Register’s interview discussed the evolution of Sendero and its 55+ enclave of Gavilán, as well as future design plans, what new homebuyers can expect, and much more.

Collins’ interview not only dove into the specifics about community timelines, but it also highlighted Rancho Mission Viejo’s project history, and what’s next to come on The Ranch.

As Collins put it, “…hundreds of new homes are hitting the market on one of Orange County’s last frontiers. Sales start Saturday at Rancho Mission Viejo’s 940-home Sendero development, one of the county’s biggest housing projects.”

He even went on to say that when completed, the 14,000 home developments will have about 35,000 residents, becoming perhaps Orange County’s 35th city.

Although the journey has just begun, John explained the planning and thought process that has gone into the design and development of the Village of Sendero.

“The Gen Y’s are the next emerging biggest demographic since the baby boomers came along…. So the opportunity for what we’re doing … is to really meet the needs of the two biggest future buyer groups and make sure the area is being designed to meet their needs. If we do that well for the Gen Y’s and the 55-plus (buyers), it works well for everyone. It automatically serves the broad spectrum of buyers if we’re delivering the right homes at the right price.”

Sendero’s townhomes start at just over $300,000 and houses top out at close to $1 million. Excited buyers will be touring these model homes tomorrow at the public grand opening that will feature 11 new neighborhoods, model home tours, live music, food trucks & more!

For those who are just starting the home shopping process, Rancho Mission Viejo would still welcome you out. As Johnson explained, “We’re already working on Planning Area 2 to begin construction late this year, with anticipation to bring it to a grand opening in late 2015.”
